In 1947, the Mon Ethnic Affairs Organization, comprising members from various social classes, was established.
Nai Hla Maung served as Chairman, while Nai Ba lwin (also known as Nai Shwe Kyin) took on the role of General Secretary.
Under the leadership of this organization, a mass public gathering was held at the Kyauktut Pagoda grounds in Mawlamyine.
Approximately 10,000 Mon ethnic people and representatives from various Mon regions attended the gathering, where key resolutions were adopted.
“The Aspirations of Mon Youths in Yangon”
While Mon ethnic people in Mawlamyine were demanding a separate Mon State, Mon youths in Yangon also held a meeting.
This meeting took place on October 12, 1947, at the residence of Nai Mon Htaw’ home, a contractor on Shwe Dagon Phaya Road, Yangon.
At that meeting, resolutions were adopted and officially approved.
On October 16, 1947, another meeting of the Mon Ethnic Organization was held in Lamain Village, Kyaikkhami District.
That meeting proposed the formation of a group called the “Mon Warriors Organization” to lead the demand for a separate Mon State.
Also in Lamain Village, the “Mon League Organization” convened a separate meeting.
It was reported that the meeting involved discussions on requesting the formation of a separate Mon State, as well as advocating for Mon people to be granted permission to serve in the military and police forces to advance their religion and culture.
