On October 29, 1947, under the leadership of Mon Bhou Cho, the Mon Ethnic Association convened a meeting of the Mon ethnic community at Ywalut village in Chaungzon Township, Kyaikkhami District.
During the meeting, Mon Bhoe Cho gave a presentation on the historical background of the Mon people up until the time of British colonization.
At this same gathering, Mon Cham Mon from Yangon also spoke, explaining that according to historical tradition, the Mon territory once extended as far as Tha Yet Town. However, despite the new flag of the Union of Burma including a star to represent each ethnic group, the Mon nationality was not granted such representation.
Mon Htun Yin urged the formation of youth organizations to fight for the rights of the Mon ethnic people.
