With the aim of decisively dismantling the brutal military council that continues to oppress the entire Mon population, the New Mon State Party (Anti-Dictatorship) — NMSP (AD) — and its armed wing, the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA), successfully held the graduation ceremony of their 4th Basic Military Training on June 24 in a liberated area of Mon State.
This graduation ceremony marked a historic event for the NMSP (AD), a group firmly committed to the path of resistance, and further strengthened the armed struggle of the Mon people against the military regime.
The ceremony was attended by supportive monks, Mon patriots, representatives of allied revolutionary organizations, and senior leaders of NMSP (AD). The event was notably vibrant and energetic, inspiring a strong revolutionary spirit.
During the ceremony, Nai Zeya, Chair of the Political and Military Leading Committee of NMSP (AD), delivered a speech emphasizing the group’s stance:
“We have chosen the path of resistance because we absolutely reject military dictatorship. The young revolutionaries graduating today must be ready to risk their lives to defend the dignity of the Mon nation and the livelihoods of our people, and to build a new federal democratic state.”
Colonel Kelunthaw, Commander-in-Chief of the RMA, also addressed the graduates, stressing the importance of military discipline on the battlefield and the moral code of protecting civilians.
Outstanding trainees were honored with awards presented by NMSP (AD) leaders. The graduates then took an oath of allegiance, pledging to fight for the Mon people and Mon State, even at the cost of their lives. The ceremony concluded with the symbolic arming of the new generation of Mon fighters — a moment filled with pride and determination.
Since the 2021 military coup, internal disagreements regarding relations with the junta led to a split within the New Mon State Party, resulting in the formation of two factions: NMSP (NCA) and NMSP (AD).
Subsequently, NMSP (AD) joined hands with the Mon Liberation Army (MLA) to form the NMSP (AD)/Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA), becoming actively involved in the Spring Revolution.
This recent graduation marks a significant milestone that aligns with the aspirations of the Mon people and signals that NMSP (AD)/RMA forces are now ready to launch more intense operations against the military regime on the battlefield.
