North of Ye Township, according to local residents, a local man who was cutting a hedge was injured due to heavy weapons fired from Amata-317 Artillery based in Mawtkanin village.

Yesterday, 11th of may, at around 4:30 p.m., Artillery – 317 fired the heavy weapons, and when it exploded in the yard near the artillery, 56-year-old man named U San Tun, who was cutting hedges in the yard, was injured by the ammo, a local said.

“U San Tun’s shoulder and back were injured. The wound on the back is very deep. There were two workers at the farm. Only one person was hit,” he said.

Artillery – 317 battalion was reported to be attacked and burned by the Revolutionary Joint Forces, so the locals said that the artillery was fired indiscriminately with such heavy weapons.

U San Tun, who was hit by a heavy weapon ammo, was taken to Lamai Hospital and is receiving medical treatment.

According to the statements of the local residents, the Military Council Artillery Division – 317 based in Mokanin Village often fired at the residential village with heavy weapons, causing damage to local residents.

Last 27th of March, a woman from a village on the hill was injured due to the explosion of a shell fired by an artillery unit based in Mawtkanin.

In the northern part of Ye Township in recent days, the military council’s army opened fire and the two sides fired at each other, so the rubber farm activities in the region have been stopped, according to local residents.
